I'd also be willing to bet that if you dismantled a Mac and just took the motherboard for use elsewhere, you probably wouldn't be able to throw another OS onto it as it might be locked to that iOS installation. Only speculation by me though. IOS is the OS they use on there mobile apple products like iphone, ipads, apple tv, etc.
Mac computer and laptops use OSX or pretty soon just be called MacOS. The only other difference is that they are shiny lol.
Macs use the same hardware as a PC now which is confusing why more people are going for a mac now case you can buy a PC or laptop from say lenovo or Acer for like 600- 700 bucks while an apple computer with the same specs and performance can cost 1500-2000 bucks.
